Biography / Administrative History
Howard Lamden was an editor and producer. He worked as a television editor for many programs, including the news program 20/20. In 1980, he was asked to create and edit a documentary about Pink Floyd's "The Wall" concert, which was released in 2004 as "The Lost Documentary." Lamden also produced and edited Bruce Springsteen’s The River concert in Tempe, Arizona (1981) and edited the Doobie Brothers’ "Live at the Budokan" (1981-1982).
Scope and Contents
The Howard Lamden Collection contains materials dated 1978-2003, including some undated materials, from editor and producer Howard Lamden. The collection consists primarily of audio and video recordings as well as a transcript of a 20/20 interview with the Rolling Stones. The recordings include concert footage, interviews, and a documentary shot and edited by Lamden. Formats include 1-inch videotape, Digital Betacam, U-matic video, and 1/4 inch audio tape. The collection features Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Bruce Springsteen, The Doobie Brothers, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones. One item of note includes footage of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" concert at Earl's Court, London in August 1980. The collection is arranged by format and will be valuable to researchers interested in rare rock recordings of the 1970s and 1980s.
