- Notes: IASPM-US held its annual conference March 9-13, 2011 in Cincinnati, Ohio, in a joint meeting with the Society for American Music, hosted by the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. The King Records panel included Philip Paul, studio drummer for King Records between 1952 and 1964, heard on over 350 records including Hank Ballard’s “The Twist,” Little Willie John’s “Fever,” and Freddie King’s “Hide Away”; Elliott V. Ruther, president, Cincinnati USA Music Heritage Foundation; Bootsy Collins, funk legend, recorded at King Records as a studio musician and bassist for the J.B.’s; Lauren Onkey, vice president of education and public programs, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum; Brian Powers, reference librarian, Cincinnati Public Library, and author of The King Records Scrapbook.
