Jefferson Airplane was an American psychedelic rock band that emerged in 1965 from the early San Francisco music scene. The group helped define the region’s signature "San Francisco Sound" through its fusion of folk, rock, blues, and acid influences. Jefferson Airplane was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

The Jerry Platsis Jefferson Airplane Fan Club Materials contains a Jefferson Airplane fan mail kit, including a sticker, member biographies, photographs, a card, and an envelope, all dated from 1972. The materials promote the group and its seventh studio album, Long John Silver, which would be their last album of all new material until 1989.
