Biografie / Verwaltungsgeschichte
The Agora Theatre and Ballroom is a historic concert venue located at 5000 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland. The building opened in 1913 as the Metropolitan Theatre, an opera house and performance space, and later served as studios and an auditorium for local radio stations, including WHK and WMMS. The Agora music venue was established in 1966 when Cleveland concert promoter Henry “Hank” LoConti Sr. opened the first Agora club near Case Western Reserve University. The venue later moved to East 24th Street and became known for hosting emerging rock performers and live radio broadcasts. After a 1984 fire destroyed the East 24th Street location, LoConti acquired and renovated the former WHK Auditorium, reopening it in 1986 as the Agora Theatre and Ballroom, which continues to host live music and events.
